Aberystwyth RNLI assist in rescue of 2 people stuck on cliffs

Lifeboats News Release

As the sun was setting, both Aberystwyth Lifeboats were launched on 28 December at 5pm to reports of two youngsters stuck on the cliffs.

With darkness rapidly dropping in, both boats were quickly on scene at Constitution hill and the volunteers began a search Northwards towards Clarach. The casualties were located almost immediately by the lifeboat crews using high powered search lights. The first casualty was about 60 meters from the top with the second further down the cliff.

The lifeboat was soon joined by the Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Caernarfon. Between them they illuminated the two casualties whilst the Aberystwyth Coastguard Rescue Team, began a rope rescue from the top of the cliffs. Both casualties were safely recovered to the top of the cliffs, safe but very cold they were assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital.

Both lifeboats then returned to station.
