Cromer's Lifeboat on the slipway

Crowds of people were seen on the pier, making their way to the boathouse for the popular annual event.

The boathouse is home to Cromer RNLI's all-weather lifeboat 'Lester,' a Tamar class boat. The opening of the boathouse allows people to see on board the lifeboat and speak to the crew.

Just after lunch 'Lester' was launched down the slipway and was joined by Cromer's inshore lifeboat - a D class, for demonstrations of the work the volunteer crews can do.

Two of Cromer's crew were in the water, waiting to be rescued and the people watching were able to see how this is accomplished. Our colleagues at Sheringham RNLI lifeboat station also launched their lifeboat and joined in the demonstration.
