First call out of 2017 for Troon Lifeboat

Lifeboats News Release

At 2.00 on Wednesday 4 January 2017, the pagers of the lifeboat crew were activated by Belfast Coastguard for the first call out of the year after a 26ft motor vessel with 2 persons on board reported engine problems 1 mile from Troon harbour.

The crew made their way to the station and launched the all-weather Trent Class Lifeboat RNLB Jim Moffat and Inshore Lifeboat Telford Shopping Centre to assist.

Within a few minutes the all-weather lifeboat was alongside and a tow was established back to Troon.

Once in the harbour, the inshore lifeboat assisted to berth the motor vessel within Troon marina into the care of the Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team.

Both Lifeboats then returned to station where they were made 'Ready for Service' with the assistance of the shore crew.
