Totnes Show Committee donated more than £5,000 to local charities at a presentation ceremony held at the Seven Stars Hotel in Totnes last week. The donations were made from a combination of the proceeds of a very successful 2016 show and money raised at the Show’s Annual Dinner held in memory of late chairman George Taylor-Hunt.

Margaret Taylor-Hunt, George’s widow, handed over cheques for £1,550 to representatives of each of his chosen charities, Torbay RNLI and Torbay Hospital League of Friends.

Colin Bower, Volunteer RNLI Lifeboat Press Officer said, 'We are extremely grateful for this donation which is very much needed and could be used for updating Torbay Lifeboat’s navigation equipment.'

Totnes and District Show, a charity itself, is held on the last Sunday in July and is run almost entirely by volunteers. Show Manager Linda Harvey said; 'We work hard but it is also very rewarding and we also have a lot of fun.

In 2018 we celebrate our 100th anniversary which we are really excited about and have special events planned.'
