Courtmacsherry RNLI rescue three onboard 30ft pleasure cruiser off Seven Heads

It's been a very busy start to the August Bank Holiday weekend for the Courtmacsherry RNLI lifeboat, as for the second time in 15 hours, there was a call out to a 30ft pleasure cruiser that had got into difficulty off the Seven Heads peninsula in West Cork at 12.20 pm this afternoon (Saturday).

The pleasure boat with three on board, sought assistance as they fouled their propellers and lost power while on passage to Castletownshend having departed Crosshaven yesterday.

Quickly away under Coxswain Sean O'Farrell and a crew of six, the stricken boat was towed back to the safe surrounds of the Courtmacsherry Pier Pontoon.

The Crew on this afternoon’s call out were Coxswain Sean O Farrell, mechanic Stuart Russell and crew members Mark John Gannon, Ciaran Hurley, Evin O Sullivan, Ken Cashman and Paul McCarthy.

Sean, Paul and Mark John were also out on the five hour call out that arrived back at 2.30am this morning with a 36ft yacht which was rescued 18 miles off the Old Head of Kinsale.
