RNLI announced as charity partner for Swords Pavilions
The RNLI has been announced as a new charity partner for the Swords Pavilions Shopping Centre.
The volunteer search and rescue lifeboat organisation which operates two stations in North Dublin, at Howth and Skerries will have a strong presence at the centre throughout the year, raising funds and sharing safety message and advice with visitors to the centre.
The RNLI will join with St. Francis Hospice as charity partners and look forward to working alongside the organisation who provide specialist palliative care.
Commenting on the partnership, RNLI Community Fundraising Manager Pauline McGann said, ‘We are delighted to be a charity partner for Swords Pavilions. The RNLI has a strong base in North Dublin with lifeboat stations at Howth and Skerries and our volunteer lifeboat crew live and work in the area.’
‘As well as fundraising for our new kit for the volunteer lifeboat crew, the RNLI will be sharing water safety advice and messaging with the public through the charity’s ‘Respect the Water’ campaign. North Dublin has a strong leisure marine and fishing community and the RNLI is always on hand to help if they are needed. We hope to save more lives by talking to people about safety and the work of the charity.’
Swords Pavilions Centre Director Ian Hunter added, ‘with our proximity to the sea and the brilliant job the RNLI do keeping our community safe it seemed a natural link up to have the RNLI as one of our Charities of Choice for the year. We very much look forward to having the RNLI in the centre and it gives us the opportunity together to create a greater awareness of the fantastic work they do and highlight water safety also within our local area.’
