Over the last few weeks, shop and crew volunteers at New Brighton lifeboat station have been donating items and new toys to bring some festive cheer to the children and make up a special hamper for the nursing staff at Claire House, Wirral.

Today, volunteer crew members Jay Hennessey, Gavin Williams and Steve Mole took time out of their day to attend the centre and present the nursing staff at Claire House with a food and treat hamper. They also had an extra special delivery of teddy bears and toys for the children.

Jay Hennessey, New Brighton RNLI Helm said: ‘Everyone at the Lifeboat Station has rallied round for this collection and it’s great to be able to show our support towards the children and staff, especially over the Christmas period. Claire House does such a fantastic job caring for serious and terminally ill children and we hope our donation can put a smile on their faces’
