The volunteer crew had a busy start to the sunny weekend.

The Mumbles all Weather lifeboat was diverted from exercise at 2pm to assist with swimmers thought to be trapped near the inner sound.

Then just after 5pm the inshore Lifeboat was called to the aid of a swimmer at Caswell Bay.

Then just after 6.30pm the all weather lifeboat was called to the aid of a 23ft motorboat with engine failure. The boat with 3 people on board was towed to the safety of Swansea river.

Lifeboat operations manager Tim Conway said ‘The fine weather has seen many taking to the water on the coast. We’re very proud of our volunteers commitment and they’re response to the call from UK Coastguard at Milford Haven. We advise anyone if they suspect anyone to be in trouble to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Today is the first day our all weather lifeboat station has been open to the public and we were very pleased with the donations to the charity’.
