Blackpool RNLI volunteer retires after 33 years
Blackpool RNLI volunteers recently said farewell to long serving and dedicated volunteer Kevin Maine. Kevin retired from his voluntary role at the end of September after serving the RNLI and the community for 33 years.
Kevin Maine joined Blackpool RNLI lifeboat station team in 1986 as a Deputy Launching Authority. In this role Kevin was responsible for authorising the launch of Blackpool’s lifeboats and overseeing the safe operation of the boats, launch vehicles and the safety of the volunteer crew in the absence of the Lifeboat Operations Manager. In this vital role Kevin was involved in saving many lives during his 33 years of service.
Volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager, Keith Horrocks MBE said ‘Kevin was a dedicated and valued member of our lifeboat station team for 33 years and we will all miss his support and friendship. I would like to thank Kevin for all that he has done for our lifeboat station over the years and hope he thoroughly enjoys his well deserved retirement.’
