At 6.06pm on Tuesday 7 January 2020 Troon RNLI all-weather and inshore lifeboats were requested to launch by Belfast Coastguard to assist Police Scotland with a missing person search at Ardrossan.
In high winds and heavy rain, the volunteer crew assembled and the Trent class all-weather lifeboat
RNLB Jim Moffat was soon underway to assist in the search alongside local police officers, a Coastguard Senior Coastal Operations Officer (SCOO), Largs and Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Teams.
Due to the weather conditions, D Class inshore lifeboat Sheena and its crew were taken by the shore crew by road using the station Land Rover to launch closer to the scene.
As both lifeboats arrived on scene to commence a search information came through from Belfast Coastguard that they had been informed that the missing person had been located by Police so the lifeboats could return to station.
Both lifeboats returned to Troon, where the lifeboats were made 'Ready for Service' with the assistance of the shore crew.
