Support the people making a lifesaving difference

  • Rob Stuteley, Lifeguard Supervisor, RNLI Jersey

‘With the popularity of water sports, our lifeguards are always alert – even if the beaches aren’t full. But on hot days, it gets especially busy. Conditions change quickly, so it’s important to choose a lifeguarded beach, and swim between the flags. Our supporters help pay for the vehicles, training, equipment and everything else that help us keep everyone safe.’

  • Samantha Jones, Lifeboat Operations Manager, RNLI Tobermory Lifeboat Station

‘The vast majority of our shouts happen in the summer. It’s a real range – kayakers; boats; people stranded on islands with broken bones. Often they’re miles offshore. It can be very disruptive to family life, dropping everything to respond to the pager. So we couldn’t do it without our families. And we couldn’t do it without the generosity of our supporters. Their donations help to make sure we're trained and equipped to save lives.’

  • Hope Filby, RNLI Community Safety Officer

‘People from all over the world come here to enjoy our beaches, and walk along our coastal paths. If we can help educate, hopefully we can prevent accidents that could spoil someone’s time here. Donations from our supporters help make that all possible.’

  • David Mears, Boat Builder Technician, RNLI All-Weather Lifeboat Centre

'To make the best use of funds, we maintain the vast majority of our lifeboats in house. It lets us keep quality high, so we can give crews the most advanced boat possible, and help them stay safe and comfortable on shouts that can last for hours. Donations from our supporters help us achieve this.'
